meeting Monday 11th June

On monday 11th June the Ipswich Sea of faith group will meet in Sudbury at 7.30 pm.
Richard Titford is going to speak to us on Julian of Norwich.

Our last meeting, in May, was devoted to a discussion, led by Jean Wardrop, of Alain de Botton's  book "Religion for Atheists". It was a good open discussion, the book is very readable,  and it was felt to be optimistic though raised some questions about the importance of religious education in schools, if people are to have the choice of selecting "the good bits"
Our July meeting is to be a shared meal with our own choice of music that inspires us.

monday 16th April. Humanism

Our next meeting is on Monday 16th April, 7.30 pm in Lower Holbrook. The topic is Humanism and we are lucky enough to have Don Hilton to speak to us. At our last meeting we discussed the Yougov Cambridge survey and what it revealed about the religious trends in the population>. John Nurser spoke to us about the complex need for change in communication within the churches so that the messages and discussions on current issues are able to be heard. We looked at the figures which suggest that people brought up in a tradition of church going are increasingly leaving that practice in adulthood. Our meeting in May is on the 10th, when Jean Wardrop is going to lead a discussion of Alain de Botton's book "Religion for Atheists"
