monday 16th April. Humanism

Our next meeting is on Monday 16th April, 7.30 pm in Lower Holbrook. The topic is Humanism and we are lucky enough to have Don Hilton to speak to us. At our last meeting we discussed the Yougov Cambridge survey and what it revealed about the religious trends in the population>. John Nurser spoke to us about the complex need for change in communication within the churches so that the messages and discussions on current issues are able to be heard. We looked at the figures which suggest that people brought up in a tradition of church going are increasingly leaving that practice in adulthood. Our meeting in May is on the 10th, when Jean Wardrop is going to lead a discussion of Alain de Botton's book "Religion for Atheists"
