On 11th September the Ipswich SoF Group met at Pin Mill to discuss "the Re-enchantment of the West" by Christopher Partridge. It was a wide-ranging discussion looking at the embracing of Mysticism in all sorts of forms, some of them possibly more reflections of current cultural fancies than permanent replacements for religious observance or practice. I expect the discussion will continue...
We settled the dates for October- Wednesday 23rd 7.30 pm at Chelsworth. To discuss the secular subject of "War". John Gamlin has offered to introduce this.
The date for November is Wednesday 27th at Lower Holbrook, and we have changed the time for this as an experiment. The meeting will be from 2-4 pm. We hope to look at Matthew Arnold's poem "On Dover Beach".
In December we plan to meet on Wednesday 18th at the Sudbury Institute at 7.30 pm. This meeting will be our Christmas Gathering.
Our group continues to grow.At the last meeting we were 15.
